Apple is amazing when it comes to use of Apple Care. In 2001 I sent my PowerBook G4 logic board in a fix due to the "pixel flicker" old problem, not only recovered in three days, but also has a new top case (where you rest your hands / trackpad) and changed the standing failure to request a free, no! (Feet costs about $ 50 per game, and the top cover is about $ 250.) In 2006 I sent in the same Powerbook G4 logic board for another solution (5 years of abuse logic board heat bending), which also received a quick service and replacement feet. I also used Apple Care to get new chargers for my laptop. (Mine tend to short out after a few years as I use my laptop 10 hours a day, 7 days a week and take them with me everywhere). I also got my brand new replacement iPods with Apple Care, if they have any problems drives (eg from losing) has. Customer service people are friendly (for call center / customer service people), they are very quick delivery, and the whole process is pretty easy as far as tech support goes. Apple Care is definitely worth the money. If there are errors in your computer, Apple will fix this at no extra cost, with quick service. If you buy a Mac, you need to buy Apple Care, it can save lives! (Hint: 1) If you buy a third party hardware to your computer, always take it out before it to a Mac Genius or send it to Apple. They do not support third party hardware. 2) Again and again, the computer before you take it / send it to their backup to avoid the fee.) 28 of 31 people found the following review helpful. amazon problem by Joachim product is very good because the apple people are very receptive. My problem is with Amazon: I bought my MacBook Pro Apple Care on 04.04.07 and sent me a deadline for Jan/10 - about three months short of three years I've paid for when you contact Apple , which means that the specified start date for the apple care plan is the date on Amazon bought the computer and the computer when the customer buys Amazon. Buyer beware - the question of the date of purchase when you buy. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful. AppleCare replace my Powerbook G4 with a new MacBook Pro By HS sensor light on my OJ G4 (2.5 years) was defective and I sent it to Apple to fix under AppleCare. The sensor was ordered and after a few weeks, I called to complain that was too long to resolve. I spoke with a supervisor, who said that since the sensor was backordered and they could not solve the PB G4 at the time they would give me instead a new MacBook Pro. They sent me the weeks macbookpro a few years ago (the last version and is not extended), and then I sent my PB G4 so you can transfer files, and then, after deleting the files that I sent to Apple G4 PB (all Shipping was paid by Apple) I must say that I was really impressed. Chao After 2.5 years of wear and go around the world, my iBook crashed and I was really desperate - I was away and not near an Apple Store at the moment, so I was just trying to get a independent Apple reseller to see if I could just pay to fix it. They would charge me to diagnose the computer and said it was unlikely I would have to pay a few hundred dollars to replace the hard drive. I had the uneasy feeling I got ripped off, so I waited for a Mac specialist to see. I had the Protection Plan, I made an appointment and within 10 minutes someone at the Genius Bar was able to figure out the problem. I have my entire hard drive is replaced within one week, and the computer is like new, and even walking on the latest operating system (which I had not). That, and they were able to recover some of my files and burn them on DVD the same day I dropped off for repair would not cost much, or that Apple would cusotmer stellaire this service with their products just like to take part of its brand, but even with the price I would not hesitate to recommend. 10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. I love my iMac G5, but ... By JT ... I had two power supplies and a faulty circuit board + bad in 2 years that I owned. Both occurred after one year warranty expired. Fortunately I had purchased Apple Care, so I took my iMac to the Apple Store site. Fixed, and I returned, as good as new the next day. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. The best you can get. For Deimos This is by far the best support you can get into the technology and the very wise investment. This package extends your warranty for a full three years and also comes with a very positive, powerful and portable tech tools when you start it, it's all scans your entire system and gives you detailed information about any errors or improvements that can done. The tech tool is worth the price alone. I installed the tech tool on my iMac and MacBook Pro and it works beautifully, and neither system has a single incident reported in more than one year. Brown I recently purchased a Sony Bravia HDTV and a Blu-Ray Player Panasonic. Both came to the Ethernet ports, but not wireless. I have a wireless-N, then I realized I needed a wireless Ethernet bridge for these two new devices. Two bridges are sold at Best Buy (D-Link, Linksys), but the negative reviews, costs $ 100 and has only one Ethernet port each (which requires the purchase of two bridges and a bridge and a bucket). Many of the bridges in the Amazon also received superficial comments. However, I have seen some devices that Buffalo seemed potentially interesting, with several doors and positive reviews on some models. So I gave it a shot since it comes directly from Amazon (rather than a supplier of 3) and is similar to other Buffalo devices that are reviewed positively. These comments from other models warned of possible problems (eg, , Poor documentation, problems with Windows Vista, no problems connecting to Buffalo wireless routers that use encryption), but has supported these difficulties can be overcome, I had the bridge tonight, and it was simple and easy to install on my network. I've just connected directly to the PC via the Ethernet port, ran the setup disk, the installer fed information about my network and encryption, and that's it. I put the bridge in my cave, which is connected to the TV, and I was immediately able to watch HDTV, Internet-only content on my Sony Bravia (for example Amazon's video). All this took about 15 minutes from opening the box, the configuration on my PC, and popping on my TV. Hard to understand how this could be better, so I give it 5 stars for the time to warn people of the benefits of this product, but if I run into problems later, I will update this review. 6 of 6 people found this review helpful. Works as advertised by John Lessnau Works fine on my home theater for my constituents need a direct Ethernet cable (Xbox, DVR and TV 2) It took a careful reading of the instructions to set to work with my Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router WNDR3700 router, but once set I do not have problems like loss of connectivity or delayed. I can stream the Blu Ray quality files from my computer upstairs and my son xbox connection is faster than ever for online gaming. If you have a wireless N bridge, I do not think you can go wrong with Buffalo. 14 of 17 people found this review helpful. Setting up the Mac Tiger 10.4.11 by Craig T. Morita This device works well for streaming Netflix Instant Video to my Sony BDP-N460 Blu-ray player for playback on my Sony XBR TV Bravia8. It is the only bridge that I found which has four connectors on the back of the TV, DVD plug (with a space to an Apple TV or Apple MiniMac connect in the future) There is no documentation on how to use this unit with Macs. Here is a guide for my setup: For the installation of Mac OS Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard 10.5.x, and a unit of the first generation of broadcasting a signal Time Capsule 802.11n. Note that none of the supplied software is running on a Mac to Web-based configuration for Macs. However, you can access the manual on the CD. Also AOSS setup method does not work with Mac AirPort base stations. The documentation for Mac is not essentially in place. A major problem for users of WEP password: WEP password option with Apple Time Capsule stations and units used in recent airport airport is a special form called WEP (Transitional Security Network), if the 802.11n network in the AirPort Utility program to configure. What is this? This is the description from Apple: A TSN (TSN) is a network security protocol uses the Transition Network, which allows clients to authenticate with the network as secure as possible, based on the capabilities of your hardware and software.

Thanks, D-Link, wasting time and money with the counterfeit product. D-Link sells this card as compatible with XP, but admit it does not work with the current, approved version of Windows XP. This is very close to fraud. If does not work with XP service pack that 95% of users are in operation, I can not honestly say that works with XP. It now operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously to ensure top performance for all your devices, and it provides a new Guest Networking option for easy Internet sharing. It also enables you to access your Time Capsule's hard drive over the Internet via a MobileMe account. The dual-band Time Capsule fits the needs of all your Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Hoffmann I owned the Apple Time Capsule 1TB model for several months. Pros: 1. Very large two 1 TB hard drive. 3 high speed WiFi connections. It can be configured with your network (not a Mac product?) 4. Much faster on my DSL network wireless DSL router that I had connected Cons: 1. Extremely slow data transfer. I am not exaggerating when I say that it took 15 hours for a wired connection back up, with about 250 GB of data transfer ...... wireless backup that much data is not even reasonable, it would take several days. 2. I wanted it for my iTunes library. To my library sharing across multiple devices, when my MacBook was not available. It appears that the transfer speed is too slow for this purpose and I had to scratch that idea. 3. Sometimes it has been too slow to even use Time Machine. The problem is the hard drive, it seems, since the wireless connection is extremely fast Maybe there are some problems with the Time Capsule as communicates with its hard drive? I do not know, I know it is terribly slow. If this can not be used as a hub for wireless backup and painfully slow, then there are solutions out there. If Apple can get this thing in a way to work as advertised, then it might be worth a look. The way is now ... RECOMMENDED! 16 of 18 people found this review helpful. So easy a PC user can do? For Professionals Arteche S.: Develop was a breeze, has a D-Link 655R replaced without any problem. Working on my network multi-platform: PC with an Ethernet cable, MacBook with 802.11n, PS3, Wii, iphone1g, iPhone3G and Canon wireless printer / scanner 802.11g network. Two antennas wireless network continues to run at top speed with an outstanding range! (For the first time my MacBook to the Internet has reached a speed of around 20Mbps Wi-Fi) 1 TB storage works well for both my PC and Mac USB port network really works! Unlike my D-Link needed a special software was only compatible with PC and Mac? Cons: it runs hot (I only checked because of other reviews) sitting there (even if you do not think it's much warmer than my D-Link, I never paid attention); running hot when Time Machine is making his initial return (this made me a little 'nervous), there are some discrepancies with the USB cable to the network when I connect my external hard drive will only read it (FAT32) partition, Mac and PC (NTFS) partition? (Even if my PC will only read my PC partition and division of the Mac, my MacBook Pro reads them both) network settings are not as flexible as an experienced network administrator may appeal. A bit on the pricey side (thank you Amazon for $ 45 saved over the Apple Store) Conclusion It is good if the print server to a complete change for the Mac, or if you are looking for a true dual wireless networking, NAS, and all of a polishing unit, and has Money August 8 found this review helpful. Large unit Router valid backup, network drive yoke Jonathan Birge This product is basically three products: the AirPort Extreme wireless router, a network device, and finally, with Leopard, a backup system on a network. In general, it is a very good product, but there are some serious limitations should be considered. As a router, is fantastic. The typical Apple user, with all the settings made by an application of the graphical user interface very intuitive. Unfortunately, there is a large network drive. The unit seems to be internally connected via the USB connection is very slow. You will find that even with a computer connected via Gb / s Ethernet transmission speeds will be limited to about 5.6 MB / s max. If you have two Macs via Fast Ethernet, you can often get more than 40 MB / s transfer rate, so this is a pretty big disappointment, especially for a product that is very useful if you use Time Machine, Time Machine is great in theory but.

McWhirter I bought the 1 TB Time Capsule to replace my Linksys router and a Lacie 500 GB external hard drive. Installation took about two minutes - and I was. It was very simple - insert the disk into a drive, install version 5.3 of the AirPort Utility, answer questions, and are already in place - very easy. That said, got a warning for users who want more security than a disk password - IE, the use of user accounts to share files, etc. rather than follow the "easy" path, you have to use "If manual configuration. first use the configuration "easy" and want to go back and change a disk password to the security of account security, you lose all data that was transferred to the disc - which is correct you will lose data that was transferred to the disk - for me it was one hour 7, 350 GB transfer - lesson learned. I backup two computers using Time Machine to Time Capsule - a Mac Mini and a MacBook Air Both average of 25 GB on the first Time Machine backup, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours each via Ethernet - which is another point - you want to use Ethernet instead of WiFi for your first backup - as Time Capsule will shorten data speeds to keep the other with AirPort. That said, I am using the 802.11n (5 GHz) to set Time Capsule - and when I am surfing or downloading files via the internet on my MacBook Air, I can not honestly tell the difference between this and a direct Ethernet connection - when connected to the Internet via cable modem. It is quite incredible. To give you an example of the 802.11g transfer rate - I share a single library stored on Time Capsule for both my iTunes and iPhoto programs between the two computers - it used to take 45 to 60 seconds to your iPhoto library, at 802.1 access to 11g (Linksys) on the MacBook Air - access to your iPhoto library now via the link on the MacBook Air 80211n takes 5 seconds or less. As you might guess from the previous statement, as well as backup - I am also using the Time Capsule as an external hard drive - I have about 350 GB of music and 100 GB of video stored on it. And so far so good! All in all I am very happy with this product and recommend it to anyone! 37 of 40 people found this review helpful. I liked my 500gig model as well as I got 1TB model as a shared drive by Jeffrey Heaton I've been using Time Machine since I upgraded to Leopard. While Time Machine is great for backing up my iMac, it's a pain having to connect my MacBook Pro and new Mac Book Air to an external hard drive. Time Capsule is great for this. As long as my laptop is open and running, a backup to happen. Remember to do your first backup via Ethernet. Otherwise, it will be slow. Apple does not want to bog down your network with backups, so if you back up wirelessly, it will throttle the connection flew up this device also functions as a wireless router. I was able to remove my pervious Air Port Extreme from the network. The terabyte model is good because you are able to a large backup drive and a number of smaller computers, two laptops and my iMac just fine to share. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Another winner from Apple Time Capsule B. Naseer is definitely worth its price. He has a big project, we always expect from Apple. Suppose it is a breeze. With 1TB of space, it serves well as a large backup drive (backups wirelessly without ever realizing that you have a backup) and an external hard drive for extra storage. I have not compared the speed of the wireless network with the Linksys routers, but works perfectly with great speed. Perhaps the best feature is all your data to store and able to make things wireless, that is, period. You can view photos, play music, movies, all out.

Sufficient, but sometimes slow, average reliability of Randall King I use my 2 TB Time Capsule, a wireless router and wireless backup of my Mac mini. As a router, it is very reliable. I'm having trouble connecting to my iPhone 3G. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. If it works, there are times it will stop working for no apparent reason. Frustrating. Otherwise, my MacBook and Mac mini, both every time to connect and the connection is very reliable. The Time Machine backup feature works very well. It's nice not having to think about backups. It just works, back up everything and I do not have to worry about. The problem with the wireless backup system is that it is * very * slow, and it interferes with my use of my internet. It would be nice if it would eliminate the backup if I lose my connection, so it does not interfere. Or maybe just to make backups when the computer is off and I'm not talking about the first backup of my system ... I mean the daily incremental backups that occur months later. My Linksys router I had for years, eventually failed, but worked much better than before Time Capsule no. My recommendation to anyone reading this is to buy a normal router, and then just use a USB or FireWire hard drive for backup. I have not used the properties to share a printer on Time Capsule so I can not talk about it. June 5 found this review helpful. Really good product! For leaks Gator who bought this product, with some hesitation after reading some negative reviews. I have used this product for about 4 months and have had no problems with it. It does exactly what it says. The only thing is that it becomes very slow backups wirelessly, but I connected directly to my computer and is much faster. Overall, very pleased with this purchase and has helped recover some important files that I deleted by accident. 14 of 20 people found this review helpful. Apple has done it again. By C. Dahlberg I bought this for our wireless network at home with family. Support is our three computers and wireless router and as with many Apple products, it works. It took about 25 minutes from the moment I plugged in until the time capsule had captured the information to "talk" to the DSL modem and have Earthlink. Now I do not think my backups and Internet run faster. See all 13 customer reviews ....

By Tarun Chachra Hi, Check out my review of the Airport Extreme Dual Band: Apple MB763LL / A AirPort Extreme Base Station Dual band I taped comment below for your convenience. Already regarded as the AirPort Extreme, I will not go into detail about the possibilities routing / wireless / speed of this time capsule ... are exactly the same product, and I assure you, you can get great detail in my comments. Time Capsule will be an interesting niche product that a hard disk in your body houses. The capsule can be obtained and a 500 GB or 1 TB hard drive. Note: The hard drive is not user servicable. The main reason for this device was, so users can easily Mac OS X machines using Time Machine directly to the router backup. Why is the end product. Why then give it a 4 out of 5? Just because my experience with the hard drive has been disconnected regularly and drops to the connected users ... which for me is a defect when Time Machine tries to back up my computer. Yes, I restarted from scratch, reload the firmware, etc. .. but in vain. I also talked AppleCare and a capsule replacement in the coming days to see if the problem can be alleviated. I still give this and 4 / for my belief in the routing engine and the software starts five maintain these units. My opinion on the AirPort Extreme base station solidifies my 4.5 Review. This product is worth a 5.5 Following a review of disk problems corrected. I hope that I am alone in this problematic situation, but time will tell. Ironically, my old Time Capsule has been running for almost a year without any problems .... so I hope I have a problem outside. As always, I leave comments with suggestions, questions, etc. Below is my review of dual-band Airport Extreme Base Station: Hello, faithful to my gadget envy, I bought one of these dual-band Extreme base stations to see if they kept the hype Sure enough, Apple has an old improve a mediocre product with a new, more powerful hardware engine and an improved software capabilities. Features: Bluetooth, 802.11 a / b / g / n dual-band radios at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz simultaneously. Gigabit Ethernet ports 1x WAN, 4x LAN. Guest wireless network. Desk-sharing via USB-connected hard drive. Access to shared disk via MobileMe (Apple's Mobile Me subscribers on OS X). The box comes with the router, power cable, software CD and documentation .... limited documentation. Time for testing. Setup: Setting up an apple base station is unlike any other in the setup, you can not access the portal via your web browser. You must use Apple AirPort Utility (Mac and Windows) to configure the router. The software is built very well and offers ease of use to Mac users usually known simply walk through a setup wizard and set simple options for your Internet connection, wireless, etc., etc. NOTE: When you configure wireless networks wire that are able to hit the radio button that you can define a network of 5 GHz as well (for example, the wireless core network called Wi-Fi, a 5 GHz wifi calls (5GHz)). Very easy to install and get going. You can easily establish a secure connection (WPA2) wireless network guest .... it simply means that if you have a visitor can use Wi-Fi, but do not affect any of the computers on your home network. Very safe .... and a great feature to boot. I was using the old Apple Base Station and maintained switch between it and a D-Link wireless N router .... I have one of these mainly dual-band access for guests. Yes, there are routers out there that can do this for a little less cost ... b but the elegance of the Apple Airport as a router that can be installed without problems too The software will also identify problems in the installation and you.

While Time Machine is ideal for backing up my iMac that his pain connect my Mac Book Pro and new Mac Book Air to an external hard drive. Time Capsule is great for that. As long as my laptop open and running, a backup to happen. Make sure you remember to do the initial backup via Ethernet. Otherwise, go slowly to be. Apple does not want to bog down your network with backups, so if you can back up wirelessly, it will intentionally throttle the connection speed. This device also acts as a wireless router. I could remove my previous Air Port Extreme from the network. The size is nice because you share in this situation, a large drive and backup several smaller computers. My iMac and laptop all backup fine. The unit has been running a little hot. The best way to back up a Mac laptop 38 of 38 people found this helpful fantastic experience! By Eric S. Johnson will make this short ... I only got my Time Capsule 500 GB and so far has been quite exceptional. I was already on a wireless network and was a bit confused about how well he wanted to follow the simple instructions that came with the AirPort Setup Utility and, voila, I was talking to Time Capsule (TC). I decided to CT as a separate network, Apple only connect to wireless (closer to the bridge DHCP vs. double) of the TC to my existing router. The installation took about five minutes and it was absolutely perfect (now I have an Apple 802.11n only network, and my original 802.11g network for guests). Oh, and I say bloody FAST 802.11n wireless? As soon as you enter the TC to my server backup machine time, two minutes later, the initial backup was gone. No false starts, configuration management is not crazy or Regedit blah blah blah - I hooked up, gave him a couple of key data points and was up and running! The only disadvantage I have is that I could not migrate my existing Time Machine backup for the new CT scan - a minor inconvenience, but I can live with .. That's why I buy and use Apple products. I am particularly pleased with this purchase. Three thumbs up! Update 03/20/2008: I had some dropouts limited wireless network, but it was not a question "killer". Last night, Apple released an update for Time Capsule, and I am pleased to report that the service was absolutely flawless, fast and bloody - it feels like the wireless feature is orders of magnitude faster than before ... Again, this was a great experience and I will be buying the Time Capsule for my second daughter in the next two weeks. 64 of 69 people found this review helpful. Finally - Time Capsule has arrived (although a bit 'late) by John J. Schmitt III Since its introduction in January, Mac users (new and old) have been waiting patiently for the Time Capsule (TC) begin to appear in retail stores for me - I got lucky and walked into the Apple store on Friday Tuesday to find they had materialized that day. Getting the product installed on my home network was a little harder than I expected, but not so terrible. For me - the accident was that I would not use the Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) to share my Internet connection. My goal was simply to turn the device on another network client Cat6 home. After installing AirPort Utility provided with the package on my MacBook Pro, set up Time Capsule to recognize as a NAS device was simple enough. Initially at least, I disabled the wireless radio and connect through it in one of four connections available Cat6. Opening config stuff was fairly standard: a) give the device a name, decide on a DHCP or manual IP configuration, etc. The only.

Unmatched in its ease of use, it delivers data rates up to 54 megabits per second, fits in the palm of your hand so you can take it wherever you go. Driving the Wi-Fi Revolution In 1999, Apple sparked the wireless revolution with the introduction of AirPort, the first affordable and easy-to-use solution for accessing the Internet without restrictive cables. In 2003, AirPort Extreme took your unwired connection to the next level by harnessing the superfast 802.11g wireless standard for data rates nearly five times those of the 802.11b standard that the original AirPort used and many current wireless networking devices still use. With AirPort Express, Apple continues to advance wireless, delivering the first device to pack wireless networking, audio, printing and bridging capabilities into a single affordable, portable unit. AirTunes Unleashes Your Music AirPort Express with AirTunes brings your iTunes music in your Mac or PC into your living room -- or wherever in your home you have a stereo or a set of powered speakers. All you have to do is connect your sound system to the audio port on the AirPort Express Base Station using an audio cable (included in the optional AirPort Express Stereo Connection Kit) and AirTunes lets you play your iTunes music through your stereo or powered speakers -- wirelessly. iTunes automatically detects the connection of your remote speakers, so you just have to select them in the popup list that appears at the bottom of the iTunes window and click play. Enjoy your playlists, set iTunes to shuffle through your entire library or repeat your favorite songs over and over Enjoy your playlists, set iTunes to shuffle through your entire library or repeat your favorite songs over and over again -- however you like to enjoy your music on iTunes, you can now enjoy it that way through your stereo speakers, wherever they're located in your house. Enjoy your iTunes music library in virtually any room of your house Buy more than one AirPort Express Base Station and connect one to every stereo or set of powered speakers in your house -- one to your stereo in your living room and another to a pair of powered speakers in your kitchen, for example. Its small size and affordability make it perfect for having more than one. Imagine being able to play your iTunes music on whichever speakers in your house you prefer. Because AirPort Express is so compact, you can also easily take it along with your laptop to a friend's house and share your unique musical taste on your friend's stereo. Add Music to Your Current Wireless Network If you already have a wireless network in place, you can use AirPort Express to add music to its capabilities. Let's say, for example, you have AirPort Extreme set up in your den. There's no need to scrap this setup and create a whole new one with an AirPort Express Base Station, your DSL or cable modem, printer and stereo all in one place. Simply connect AirPort Express to your stereo in your favorite music room and plug it into an electrical outlet -- it wirelessly links to your existing network, letting you play your music in your room of choice without moving anything or connecting anything else. Easy Setup Listen wirelessly, connect wirelessly, extend your network wirelessly, print wirelessly — no matter what you want to do with AirPort Express or whether you use a Mac or PC, you can bet it’s a breeze to set up. With the AirPort Express Assistant, it’s just a matter of a few clicks. The software automatically detects what you have connected to AirPort Express — whether it’s your stereo, DSL or cable modem or printer — then walks you through the easy steps to complete the setup. Connect Wirelessly AirPort Express uses the 802.11g wireless standard to deliver blazing data rates -- up to 54 Mbps. It supports both Macs equipped with an AirPort Extreme Card and Wi-Fi-compliant 802.11g Windows PCs, as well as Macs with the older AirPort Card and 802.11b Windows PCs. Everyone in your family can surf the web wire-free because AirPort Express provides simultaneous wireless Internet access via your DSL or cable modem for up to 10 computers. Extremely portable, AirPort Express weighs less than seven ounces and fits in the palm of your hand AirPort Express connects you and everyone in your family not only to the Internet but to each other. Since it employs the powerful 802.11g standard, you can wirelessly share photos, movies and other files without having to worry about slow data transmissions. Nor do you have to concern yourself over a difficult network setup procedure. AirPort Express uses the revolutionary Rendezvous technology in Mac OS X to allow your AirPort-equipped Macs running Mac OS X to detect each other with no effort on your part -- they discover each other just by virtue of being within the range of the network. Extend Your Network If you already have a wireless network in your home and would like to extend its range, AirPort Express is your answer. Suppose you want to connect to the Internet with your PowerBook in an area that lies beyond the 150-foot range of your AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station. You can use AirPort Express as a wireless bridge to extend the range of your primary base station. There's no need for extra wires or cables -- serving as a bridge, AirPort Express doesn't have to be physically connected to your primary base station or to your DSL or cable modem. Simply place AirPort Express within the range of your primary base station and near the area where you'd like to enjoy your wireless connection.

AirPort is the cutting-edge wireless networking technology that lets you get on the Internet from anywhere in your home, school or office - without cables, additional phone lines, or complicated networking hardware.A small device, similar to the base station of a cordless telephone, that plugs into your telephone outlet, DSL or cable modem, or Ethernet network, the AirPort Base Station receives web pages and email from the Internet and sends them to your computer - without wires. Communicate and collaborate wirelessly with others up to 150 feet away. Your wireless network can extend across several rooms and even outdoors from a single base station.

AirPort is the cutting-edge wireless networking technology that lets you get on the Internet from anywhere in your home, school, or office--without cables, additional phone lines, or complicated networking hardware. And AirPort is fast: with a data rate of up to 11 Mbps, AirPort enables high-speed wireless communications within a radius of approximately 150 feet from a base station. As thousands of Mac users have discovered, to their delight, AirPort lets you use your Mac for work, play, surfing the Web, or sending and receiving e-mail from just about anywhere. Similar to the base station of your cordless telephone, the AirPort base station includes a 56K modem for your phone line, plus two Ethernet ports. AirPort is broadband ready. And because Apple designed the hardware and software--and designed them to work smoothly together--you'll find AirPort simple to set up and use. AirPort is based on the IEEE 802.11b wireless standard and is WiFi certified for interoperability with other 802.11-compliant products (including PCs). That means you can use your AirPort card at thousands of wireless-enabled locations--including airports, coffee shops, and at least 90,000 hotel rooms in the U.S. alone. If you're running a network of PC users, all you need is one AirPort-enabled Apple computer (iBook, PowerBook G4, iMac, or Power Mac G4) to set up your base of wireless operations. The AirPort base station comes with a handy 10/100Base-T Ethernet connector that can act as the hub of your cross-platform universe.

For higher data rates, you need both the AirPort Extreme Card installed in an AirPort Extreme-ready computer and an AirPort Extreme Base Station. AirPort Extreme provides a range up to 50 feet at 54 Mbps and up to 150 feet at 11 Mbps for AirPort Extreme-enabled computers. Apple's AirPort Extreme wireless networking products lets you surf the Internet from almost anywhere in your home or business, and enables schools to provide Internet access to multiple students without installing expensive cabling.* ince AirPort Extreme is based on a new wireless technology called 802.11g, it's a snap to exchange files or play multiplayer games at data rates up to 54 megabits per second (Mbps).** The AirPort Extreme Card allows your AirPort Extreme-enabled Mac to communicate with local AirPort Extreme networks or other Wi-Fi certified 802.11b or 802.11g networks, including earlier versions of Apple's AirPort Base Station. AirPort Extreme-enabled computers that join an AirPort or other 802.11b wireless network can achieve data rates up to 11 Mbps--the maximum allowed by 802.11b. AirPort Extreme provides a range up to 50 feet at 54 Mbps and up to 150 feet at 11 Mbps for AirPort Extreme-enabled computers. Every AirPort Extreme-enabled Mac has antennas built in and optimally placed, much like a mobile phone, to provide the best possible wireless performance. And because AirPort Extreme uses radio waves for communication, it can even work through walls. With an AirPort Extreme-enabled PowerBook G4, you're ready to start enjoying the benefits of wireless networking--not just at home, but also at cafes, hotels, airports, and other businesses and public buildings around the world that have implemented 802.11b "hot spots." *** To get the full speed benefits of the 802.11g-based AirPort Extreme Card in your Apple computer, you'll want to use it with an AirPort Extreme Base Station. But since the AirPort Extreme Card is compatible with 802.11b, you can use any AirPort Base Station or other Wi-Fi certified 802.11b access point without any hassles; you don't need to change any hardware or software settings. Everything is automatic. To create your own wireless network in your home or business, just add an AirPort Extreme Base Station. This will allow you to communicate between AirPort-enabled computers, AirPort Extreme-enabled computers, Windows PCs with Wi-Fi certified 802.11b cards, and the AirPort Extreme Base Station and share access to the Internet, without wires. System Requirements: The AirPort Extreme Card can be installed only in computers that are AirPort Extreme ready. Notes: * Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort and AirPort Extreme. **Achieving data rates up to 54 Mbps requires that all users have an AirPort Extreme-ready computer with an AirPort Extreme Card installed or a Wi-Fi Certified 802.11g Windows computer and are communicating with an AirPort Extreme Base Station. If a user with an AirPort-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi certified 802.11b product joins an AirPort Extreme wireless network, that user will get up to 11 Mbps and AirPort Extreme users on the same wireless network will get less than 54 Mbps. A note for those who want to go wireless with an older computer: AirPort Card and AirPort Extreme Card are two different animals. They look different and this card does not work on older Macs designed for standard AirPort card. Apple has not even sell the old airport cards. If you have an older Mac and want to get more speed, Hotwire can not be done with the newer cards - you'll just blow a gasket on your Mac. If you add a new computer to your existing airport network-based and disappointed by the performance, you can use an AirPort base station - the old models at 11bps, maxxed where new max 54bps - a narrow 500% increase in speed network This access is not the model for a Mac Mini. The Mac Mini is a different form factor and has a special slot for an Airport & Bluetooth combo card that this card does not work with. Installation is a snap - literally. Slide it into place and connect the antenna cable, and you have WiFi. I installed one of these on my old iBook G4 1 GHz, and immediately saw all the wireless networks in my neighborhood. He did not seem it was that big thing to be able to anywhere in the house on a laptop. And then I was home over Thanksgiving and tried my father - it was amazing So right after I got mine and I like it - I even ended up getting another for my wife's laptop. Whether it's browsing amazon.com late at night in bed, checking e-mail morning in the kitchen while the kids run, or be able to create a desk anywhere in the house without worrying about a gateway to the Internet - the system Airport is impressive. Even if you only have a desktop computer, it is worth it - you can put your computer in a place where there is Internet connection, without the 40-foot cable to connect wall curtains. All in all, a wireless system seem extravagant, but when you'll wonder how you did without him. The airport board, along with the base allows you to connect multiple computers, even those who do not have wireless cards in them (ie We need to scan two laptops on the wireless system, and then an iMac is not an AirPort card right at the base), which you can print - everything - is wireless, so long as these additional components to the connected base . If you have a big house and the base station is not centrally located, you can look into the antenna. I have a 2500 square-foot house and the base is located at one end. I can access from anywhere in the house without the extra antenna, but one or two places it is a weak signal.
